    Your questions answered

How much are replacement bay or bow windows?

As windows are fitted on a project-by-project basis, there is no standard cost for double glazing. Get in touch with us for your free no-obligation quote.

What’s the difference between bay and bow?

The main distinction lies in their design and structure. Bay designs generally consist of three angled sections, while bow designs typically have four or five sections arranged in a softer, more rounded shape.

What is a Window Energy Rating (WER)?

The energy efficiency of windows is measured using a scale. The lowest rating is G and ratings go up as high as A++. Any new or replacement windows must have at least a rating of C in order to comply with current UK Building Regulations. Here at Massey Windows, all of our windows are able to achieve ratings of A and some can achieve A+.

Do I need planning permission for new bay or bow windows?

Replacement windows do not usually require planning permission, especially if the replacements are similar in appearance to the original windows. However, it’s always worth checking if you’re ever unsure. Using an accredited installer like us means we will take care of all of those concerns for you.

What is the best way to get a quote from Massey Windows?

If you would like a quote from us here at Massey for your next home improvement project, there a couple of ways you can do this. Simply pick the option that works best for your circumstances and we’ll help you out as best we can.

    Option 1

If you aren’t familiar with double glazing costs, and you’re looking to receive a quick estimate without a house viewing, we would recommend you take some pictures of the areas you’d like a quote on and send them to us. Send these along with some estimated measurements and we’ll be happy to give you an estimated quote.

    Option 2

For a more accurate quote, we can arrange to come and view the property and answer any questions you may have regarding our products and the installation process.

We will take a quick measurement ourselves and then provide you with an exact quote 1 – 2days later.

What are you lead times from when an order is placed to the installation date?

We are flexible with dates and will book your installation at a time that is convenient for you. An average timescale for our installations is 3-5 weeks.

If we want to go ahead with an order, what happens next?

After placing your order with us, we will look to book in a survey date at a time that suits you. One of the team will come and take a detailed survey of the work and go through the designs and details of all the windows and/or doors being replaced.

After the survey is complete, a copy of our contract, along with the survey, will be left with you to check and sign. Once that is signed, an invoice will be sent via email for 40% of the contract price. As soon as this is payed, we will go ahead and put your order through.

Once the order has had a chance to process, we will be back in touch to book your installation.

How long does installation take and will there be much mess?

The exact time of installation is very difficult to estimate as each job varies greatly.

On average, 4-5 windows can be installed in just one day by one team.

Here at Massey Windows we use just one team per job. From experience, having two teams on one job can lead to too many bodies rushing around, sort of like having too many chefs in one kitchen!

We pride ourselves on delivering an unrushed, clean service with extra care taken every single time. Where certain installations are a little more complicated than others, they will naturally require more time. Our fitters will never rush to finish your job just to get on to the next. Your in good hands with a team from Massey.

When do we pay the final balance?

A final balance invoice will be sent to you before we arrive to install your windows.

Our installers will show you all the work once finished and how to care for your windows.

Once inspected, the final balance of invoice will need to be paid before the fitter’s leave site.

Once the work is complete and we have received the final balance, we will register your job with FENSA and you will receive your certificates through the post approximately 1 month later. These certificates will state how many window and doors you had installed and at what energy rating. They are crucial for when it comes to selling your home.

If an issue arises after installation, we aim to respond to you within a maximum of 1 day.

Issues will be dealt with promptly and with the same level of care as the installation.
